Positive Material Identification
Positive Material Identification (PMI), or alloy analysis, is the spectral analysis of the elemental composition of alloys, metals and steel.
Our technicians perform positive material identification utilizing X-Ray Fluorescence Analyzers for a variety of material composition analysis . Additionally we have the latest technology providing Laser Emissions Spectrometry to accurately identify carbon content in various materials, weldments, and piping.
PMI is commonly used in various industrial applications for component and piping segregation and identification. Separation of alloy components is critical in the chemical and petrochemical environments while the ability to detect carbon content is crucial when working on existing pipelines.
